Rajshahi set to celebrate Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary

Rajshahi people are now ready to celebrate the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2023 in the city and the district in a befitting manner tomorrow (Friday).

Divisional and district administrations, Awami League (AL), its associate organizations, Bangabandhu Shishu Kishor Mela, different socio-cultural and children organizations have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the day.

The daylong programmes will begin with hoisting of national flags atop all public and private buildings at dawn.

At 9 am, various government and non-government organizations, social and cultural bodies, valiant Freedom Fighters and politicians will place wreaths at the murals of Bangabandhu at various places, including Luxmipur crossing.

Birthday cake-cutting function, discussion meeting, prize distribution and cultural programme will also be held at Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

Special prayers will be offered seeking divine blessings for Bangabandhu, four national leaders and martyrs of the War of Liberation and peace and progress of the nation at mosques, temples, pagodas, churches and other places of worship.

Educational institutions will arrange discussions, essay competitions and cultural programmes.

The District Information Office will screen video footage and clippings on life and works of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at different road crossings in the city.

Improved diets will be served to the inmates of all hospitals, upazila health complexes, jails, vagabond centres, shishu paribar and orphanages besides distributing sweetmeats among them.

Meanwhile, Rajshahi City Corporation has taken elaborate programmes including cleanliness drives and making decoration and beautification to observe the day.

The upazila administrations will celebrate the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation and National Children Day-2023 through similar programmes.
