The oath taking ceremony of Rahgir Almahi Ershad, a Jatiya Party nominee who has newly been elected in the by-polls from Rangpur-3 seat of the 11th parliament, was held at the Jatiya Sangsad today.
Jatiya Sangsad Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath at 12.5pm at her parliament office here. Jatiya Sangsad Senior Secretary Dr Jafar Ahmed Khan moderated the function.
Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah, Opposition leader in the parliament Raushan Ershad, Whips Iqbalur Rahim, Atiur Rahman Atique, M Shamsul Haque, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Faruque Khan MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief AB Tajul Islam MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu MP, Fakhrul Imam MP, Masud Uddin Chowdhury MP and Syed Zakia Nur MP, among others, were present.
The by polls was held on October 5 as the Rangpur-3 seat was vacant due to the death of Jatiya Party founder Hussein Muhammad Ershad.
