RAB nabs five ‘Ansar Al Islam’ men in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, In an anticrime operation, members of Rapid

Action Battalion (RAB) arrested five members of outlawed militant outfit

Ansar Al Islam with firearm and ammunition from two villages under Puthia

upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

The arrested persons were identified as Anisur Rahman, 55, Afroza Begum,

55, Ruhul Amin, 31, Mamunur Rashid, 35, and Abu Talha, 221.

On a tipoff, a team of the elite force conducted raids at Bharurapara and

Khudra Jamira villages and arrested them, said Anwar Hossain, assistant

Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Rab, here this afternoon.

The RAB team also recovered a foreign pistol, two magazines, five round of

bullets, 24 cocktails and 18 Jihadi books from their possession.
