RAB chief urges all to remain alert against militancy

DHAKA, Observing that militants are still active

across the world, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General (DG) Benazir

Ahmed today urged all to remain alert against them aiming to eliminate

militancy from the world.

Militancy is a global problem. Militants are still active across the

world. Many youths are getting derailed by using internet and social media,

he said while addressing a press briefing in the city's Gulshan area after

placing a wreath in reminiscence of the people killed in the Holey Artisan

Bakery attack in 2016.

The RAB chief said after the Holey Artisan attack, the law enforcing

agencies with their united efforts were able to detect the militants involved

in the attack and wiped out them from the soil.

Citing the statistics of intelligence agencies of the European countries,

Benazir said a total of 129 militant attacks were carried out across the

Europe in 2018, which revealed that militants were not wiped out globally.

RAB Additional Director General (Operations) Colonel Tofayel Mustafa

Sorwar and its assistant director (media) senior assistant superintendent of

police Md Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan, among others, were present at the press

briefing.

Earlier, RAB officials placed wreaths on a stage set up in front of the

Holey Artisan Bakery.
