RAB arrests five arms traders

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight raid arrested five youths for their alleged involvement in supplying foreign arms and ammunitions in capital's Badda area.

Senior assistant director of RAB media and legal wing Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan told BSS this morning.

"Four foreign pistols, nine magazines and 38 bullets were recovered from their possessions," he added.

The arrestees were identified as Mohammad Rubel Sheikh, M Sohel Molla, M Bahed Sheikh, Mohammad Babbas Mia and Ariful Islam Arif.

The RAB official said during the interrogation, they confessed their involvement in importing illegal firearms and ammunitions and subsequently supplying those to the criminals.

"The gang was also involved in illegal drug peddling, robberies and different criminal activities in Dhaka and its adjoining areas, "RAB-1 commanding officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Tuhin Muhammad Masud said.
