Public representatives working constantly to fight COVID-19: Tazul

DHAKA,  LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Md Tazul Islam today said local public representatives are working round-the-clock at their respective areas to stay beside people to fight the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Under the directives of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, mayors, chairmen, councilors and members are working with utmost sincerity to check the spread of the deadly virus,” he told journalists after visiting the programme of spraying germicide at streets in DNCC areas.

The programme began at the main streets near Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at 11am.

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) mayor Atiqul Islam, Panel Mayor Md Jamal Mostafa and officials of the DNCC were present on the occasion.

The minister said directives have also been given to the concerned officials to take measures to prevent dengue side by side with novel coronavirus.

Speaking on the occasion, DNCC mayor said they remain alert as there is sufficient medicine and manpower to carry out mosquito killing campaign in combating outbreak of dengue.

He urged the people of respective wards to inform the authority if mosquito controlling medicine is not sprayed in their respective DNCC areas.
