Programmes finalized to observe Dr Wazed’s death anniversary

RANGPUR- Dr Wazed Smriti Sangsad (DWSS) has finalised programmes to observe the eighth death anniversary of noted nuclear scientist and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's husband Dr M A Wazed Miah here on May 9.

The programmes were finalised at a meeting of the organization held at its temporary office in Press Club Bhaban last night with its Vice-president and industrialist AKM Mozammel Haque in the chair.

Joint Secretaries of DWSS Faruk Elahi and Advocate Rothish Chandra Bhowmick Babu Sona, Law Affairs Secretary Advocate Sajjadur Rahman Sanju, Literary Secretary Poet Basher Ibne Jahur, Assistant Publicity Secretary Masud Raihan Lam, Executive Committee Members Abu Taher Mandal, Hasna Hena Rosy and Dulal, Bhowmick addressed the meeting, among others.

Talking to BSS today, General Secretary of DWSS and senior journalist Saiful Islam Jahangir said all preparations have been completed to observe the death anniversary of Dr M A Wazed at his village home Fatehpur and in Rangpur city.

The day-long programmes include offering Fateha and placing wreaths at the grave of Dr Wazed in his paternal village Fatehpur under Pirganj upazila at 9am.

After Asr prayers, milad mahfil and special munajats will be held at Keramotia Jam-E-Mosque in Rangpur city seeking eternal peace for Dr Wazed Miah and well-being of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Saima Wazed Putul and other family members.

A discussion on Dr Wazed will be arranged at Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city at 7:30 pm on the day with President of DWSS Professor Dr Hamidul Haque Khondker in the chair, Jahangir said.

Besides, the district and city units of Awami League (AL) will arrange milad mahfil and discussion on the life and works of Dr Wazed at district AL office in the city.

Dr Wazed Foundation and Begum Rokeya University will also observe the eighth death anniversary of Dr Wazed Miah in a befitting manner through day-long programmes.
