Police today arrested seven people, including
prime suspect Aminul Islam Hannan alias Japani Hannan, in connection with the
killing of rod-cement trader Abdur Rashid in city’s Dakhhin Khan area.
Police sources said Hannan’s son, his brother and four accomplices, were
among six other arrestees.
Talking to BSS, Uttara Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad
Shahidullah said that Dakkhin Khan police arrested them from ‘Japanese
Cottage’ a building owned by Hannan.
Rashid, 39, was shot dead allegedly by Aminul Islam Hannan alias Japani
Hannan at one stage of altercation around 12:30pm, DC Shahidullah said.
Police recovered a pistol, a shotgun and ammunition from their possession.
Additional police have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident.
