Press council concerned over attack on journalists

DHAKA, Jan 30, 2017 (BSS) - Bangladesh Press Council today expressed its concern over the attack on two journalists by some police men during the January 26 half-day hartal called by the National Committee to Protect Oil, Gas, Mineral Resources, Power and Ports.

In a press release, the council hoped that the investigation committee formed by police would certainly look into whether there was any conspiracy to malign the image of police force. The council thanked the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner for expressing regret for the incident.

The press council also expressed the hope that the journalists and members of the law enforcement agencies would extend their mutual cooperation to help take forward Bangladesh which is treading the highway of development and prosperity under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

It also hoped that police would work as real friends of journalists in future.
