President asks Navy to protect marine resources

President Abdul Hamid today asked the Navy to be more active in protecting the marine resources and maritime boundary of the country.

He also asked the navy to make necessary efforts for the use of the vast potential of blue economy.

The President was talking to Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed when he made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.

The Navy chief informed the President that two submarines would be added to the fleet of Bangladesh Navy this year, President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin told BSS.

Ahmed said the submarines will reach Bangladesh soon. He said building of frigates for the navy is also under process.

He said development activities of Bangladesh Navy are going on as per 'Forces Goal 2030'. He also apprised the President of the overall activities, including the future development, programmes of the navy.

The naval chief invited the President to attend the National Standard Conferment Ceremony to BNS Base Issa Khan of Bangladesh Navy to be held on November 8.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
