Premier Division Chess League begins tomorrow

“Mujib Barsho” Premier Division Chess League

will begin tomorrow at Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) hall-room of

National Sports Council old building at 3 pm.

Tarafder Mohammad Ruhul Amin, managing director of SAIF POWERTEC Limited

and vice president of BCF is expected to inaugurate the league as the chief


This year eleven teams are participating in the chess league. The teams are

last year’s champions Bangladesh Police, last year’s runners-up SAIF Sporting

Club, Uttara Central Chess Club, Bangladesh Navy, Titas Club, Sheikh Russel

Chess Club, Janata Bank Officer Welfare Society, Bangladesh Biman, Sonali

Bank Sports and Recreation Club, Leonine Chess Club (promoted from 1st

Division) and Shaheen Chess Club (promoted from 1st Division Chess League.

The league will be held in a round-robin league system. The lowest ranked

team (one team) among the eleven participating teams will be relegated to the

first division chess league.

This time four grand masters and three international masters of

Bangladesh, eight grand masters, five international and six rated players

from India, and one grand master from Belarus are going to participate in the

league, organized by BCF and sponsored by SAIF POWERTEC Limited.
