PRAN to send food products to India under Naval Protocol Agreement

State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury inaugurated the Naval Protocol Agreement food export programme at PRAN Industrial Park in Narsingdi’s Palash on Tuesday.


On the golden jubilee of independence, PRAN became the first to ship food products to India under the Naval Protocol Agreement.


Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) has taken initiative to send food items from Bangladesh to India by ship.


Minister Khalid said, “It’s a matter of pride for all Bengalis around the world. The Prime Minister has instructed us to increase trade through waterways. We’re working as per her instructions. Our ministry is working to increase the number of waterways and restore the navigability of rivers.”


Narsingdi-2 MP Anwarul Ashraf Khan, Ministry of Commerce Secretary Zafar Uddin, Ministry of Shipping Secretary Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury, BIWTA Director Muhammad Rafiqul Islam, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Sarbik) Kamal Kumar Ghosh, Additional Superintendent of Police Enamul Haque Sagar and senior Pran-RFL group officials were present at the event.
