Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mokhlesur Rahman has said that members of police forces are not weapons of any political party and they never talk in line with the ideals of political parties.
"Police considers the trouble makers as criminals and takes legal actions to ensure peace, safety and normal life of the citizens and smooth development," he said while addressing an anti-militancy views-sharing meeting held at Police Lines School and College auditorium here today as the chief guest.
The district police administration organised the meeting participated by Police Supers, Additional Police Supers, Officer-in-Charges, union parisahd chairmen, members of the community policing committees of all eight districts under Rangpur division.
With Police Super Mizanur Rahman in the chair, Divisional Commissioner Kazi Hasan Ahmed, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Khondker Golam Faruk, Additional DIGs Bashir Ahmed and Chowdhury Manjurul Kabir, Zila Parishad Administrator Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed and Member-secretary of Divisional Community Policing Committee Shushanto Bhowmick addressed the event as special guests.
The Additional IGP said that those who did not want independence of Bangladesh, formed Razakars, Al-badars and Al-shams and killed 30 lakh innocent Bengalese, molested two-lakh women along with the Pakistani forces were behind creating militancy to turn Bangladesh into Pakistan.
"Militancy can never raise their heads or cause any harm to Bangladesh as the freedom-lover Bengalese will always foil their evil attempts," he said adding that Pakistan and Islam were not the same.
"Members of police forces have successfully resisted fire terrorism and killing of innocent people even at the costs of their lives and they are always ready to ensure peace in the society by sacrificing lives in future when necessary," he said.
He called upon members of police and community policing to become more active in creating public awareness to resist militancy and all evil forces involving common people for establishing peace to build a science-based, educated and developed nation.
