DHAKA, Jan 22, 2017 (BSS)- Railways Minister Mujibul Huq today urged the mass media to dig out the truth and publish it to stop corruption in society.
He made the call at a seminar at MBA auditorium in the city marking the completion of 20 years of a weekly newspaper.
Presided over by Aporadh Bichitra Editor SM Morshed, the seminar on 'Corruption-Free Country-Our Dream' was also addressed by Bangladesh Press Council Chairman Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, former Permanent Representative to UN Dr AKM Abdul Momen and journalist Gias Uddin, among others.
The minister said the government will give all cooperation to the media, if they continue their current role in building a happy and prosperous Bangladesh.
He urged the journalists to play a pioneering role to establish truth and justice.
Justice Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed said the journalists and mass media would have to play the biggest role to build a corruption-free Bangladesh.
Dr. Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin said the media is enjoying the maximum freedom now.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done a lot for the welfare of journalists, he added.
An enthralling cultural function was held on the occasion.
