Pabna erupts in joy as Sahabuddin sworn in as 22nd President

Veteran Freedom Fighter and Politician Mohammad Sahabuddin sworn in as the 22nd President of Bangladesh at an impressive ceremony in the packed and historic Durbar Hall of Bangabhaban this morning.

Jatiya Sangsad (Parliament) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury administered the oath of the office of the President here at 11am.

People from all walks of life brought out a joyous procession in Pabna district town on the occasion.

District unit Awami League leaders and workers and people from different strata of Pabna district watched the swearing-in ceremony of the President on big screen at Pabna district Awami League office this morning.

District unit Awami League organised the procession in the morning from the Awami League office which ended at the same place after parading different important places. District Awami League president Rezaul Rahim Lal led the joyous procession.

They also distributed sweets among the local people including the people of different professions on the main road of the city, after which a discussion meeting and prayer was held at the party office.

Rezaul Rahim Lal, President of the district unit Awami League, said: "It's a great day for Pabna residents".

Earlier, the 73-year-old politician was elected as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on February 13, 2023.

Mohammad Sahabuddin was born on December 10, 1949 in Shibrampur's Jubilee Tank area of Pabna Town. His father's name is Sharfuddin Ansari and mother Khairunnessa.

He obtained his M Sc degree from Rajshahi University in 1974 and later he passed LLB and BCS (Law) examinations.

President Sahabuddin was the general secretary of Pabna Edward College unit of Chhatra League, president of Pabna District Chhatra League and Jubo League later also. He was the joint secretary of Bangladesh Krishak Sramik Awami League (BaKSAL) of the district unit and publicity secretary of Awami League district unit.
