DHAKA, June 8, 2017 (BSS) - Oxfam in Bangladesh has sanctioned Taka 1 crore 59 lakh 9 thousand 998 to support the haor people in Sunamganj and Kishoreganj districts who were affected badly in recent flash floods.
The fund will support 3,500 affected households in the two districts, an Oxfam press release said today.
The grant will be disbursed through a consortium of organizations led by People's Oriented Program Implementation (POPI) - a national organisation.
An agreement was signed today between Oxfam in Bangladesh and Popi in presence of Director General of Department of Disaster Management Md Reaz Ahmed to disburse the grant among the Haor people, the release said.
MB Akhter, Interim Country Director of Oxfam and Md Murshed Alam, Executive Director of POPI, attended the event.
