DHAKA, March 28, 2017 (BSS) - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today said the main aim of her party and the government is to improve the living condition of the down-trodden people.
"Our main goal is to improve the living condition of the down-trodden people and we are working tirelessly to achieve the goal," she said.
The prime minister made the remarks when a delegation of the groups of Progressive Alliance of Socialist and Democrats of the European Parliament called on her at her official Ganabhaban residence this evening.
Arne Lietz, MP, led the seven-member team.
After the call on, PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim briefed reporters.
He said the delegation highly appreciated impressive socioeconomic development made by Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
In response to queries of European MPs on readymade garment sector, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted her government's steps for the development of the sector and said 331 percent salary hike has been made for the new entrances in the garment sector.
The prime minister assured the delegation that if there remains any unsolved issue in the sector, her government would look into the matter.
Prime Minister's International Affairs Advisor Dr Gowher Rijvi, Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs Md Abul Kalam Azad, Principal Secretary Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, PMO Secretary Suraiya Begum and EU Ambassador to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon, were present on the occasion.
