One detained at Shajalal airport for gold smuggling

DHAKA, Feb 4, 2017 (BSS) - Customs intelligence at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport in the capital today detained a man and recovered 370 grams of gold from his possession.

The man, Md Masud from Barisal disembarked from Biman Bangladesh flight BG-087 coming from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 8 am and tried leave the Green Channel area hastily after collecting his luggage.

Customs intelligence officials challenged him and recovered the gold hidden inside the buckles of his belt and the frame of his trolley bag in 23 pieces.

The estimated cost of the gold recovered from Masud is Taka 17 lakh.

Process of filing a case in this regard is underway.
