Offering Jum’a prayer in the time of Covid-19

Many devotees offering Jum’a prayer at the Baitul Mukarram national mosque on Friday were seen ignoring recommended social distancing rules aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus.


The floors of the mosque were disinfected before the prayer and the devotees entered after sanitising their hands. The devotees prayed to Allah for mercy and deliverance from the global crisis.


Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus cases on March 8 and the first death on March 18. So far, the health authorities have detected 334,762 coronavirus cases – 4,668 of them died.


As the number of cases increased, the government imposed restriction on offering prayers at mosques. Later the restrictions were lifted on condition of maintaining safe physical distance and proper hygiene which.
