President Abdul Hamid has urged Norwegian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh saying there are many scopes to expand trade and investment relations between Bangladesh and Norway.
The President made the call when newly appointed ambassador of Norway to Bangladesh Sidsel Bleken presented her credentials to him at Bangabhaban here this afternoon.
During the meeting, the President expressed satisfaction over the existing bilateral relations and said Norway is an important development partner of Bangladesh.
The President's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Sidsel Bleken said Norway values bilateral relations with Bangladesh. Trade and investment between the two countries are gradually increasing, she said and hoped that this trend will be strengthened further in future.
Mentioning that Norway has investment in Bangladesh in various sectors, the envoy said the Norwegian investors will be interested more to invest here in future.
She said Bangladesh is playing an important role in various international forums against the negative impact of climate change.
Norway will extend overall cooperation to Bangladesh to face the adverse impact of climate change, the ambassador added.
Sidsel Bleken sought cooperation from the President in discharging her assignment in Bangladesh.
Later, newly appointed High Commissioner of Pakistan to Bangladesh Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui presented his credentials to President Abdul Hamid.
During the meeting, the President mentioned that the foreign policy of Bangladesh is 'friendship to all and malice to none' and said that Bangladesh is interested to maintain bilateral and multi-lateral relations with all countries.
He assured the envoy of extend all-out cooperation to him in discharging his assignment in Bangladesh.
Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui praised the women empowerment and development of cricket in Bangladesh.
The envoy said that he would put best efforts with a view to developing bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Earlier, on their arrival at Bangabhaban, the new envoys were given guard of honour separately by a contingent of the President's Guard Regiment.
Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
