No room for communalism in constitution: LGRD minister

FARIDPUR, Feb 4, 2017 (BSS) - LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khondokar Mosharaf Hossain today said there is no room for communalism in the country's constitution as it provides for equal rights for all communities including 'horijon'.

"There is nothing about horijon in the constitution as it guarantees equal rights for people of all faiths," he said as chief guest at the 19th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Horijon Oikya Parishad at Poura auditorium here.

The minister said the Awami league government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina does not believe in caste and creed as it has ensured equal rights of all.

He gave a patient hearing to Horijon community and assured them of all cooperation to fulfill all their valid demands including housing.

Mosharaf said the construction of separate housing for them is going on in full swing. Their salaries would be doubled soon, he added. "We're living in a clean city because of you," he told the horijon community.

Deputy commissioner Umme Salam Tanjila, sadar upazila chairman Khondokar Mohtesam Hossain Babor, district Awami League president Advocate Shubal Chandra Saha, poura mayor Sheikh Mahtab Ali and secretary general of the parishad Nirmol Chandra Das addressed the function with Bangladesh Horijon Oikya Parisahd president Faridpur unit Ripon Horijon in the chair.
