No anarchy in Sundarbans to be tolerated: Home Minister

BAGERHAT Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan here today said if anyone tries to create anarchy in the Sundarbans to be dealt with an iron hand.

The people who will give shelter to the criminals will not be spared, he told a function on one-year celebration of the declaration of robber- free of the Sundarbans.

Rapid Action Batalion-6 organized the function at Sheikh Helaluddin Stadium at Bagerht with Lieutenant Colonel Md Nurussalehin in the chair.

RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed, KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khalek, Dr Mozammel Hossain, MP, Sheikh Sharhan Naser Tonmoy, MP, Shamsul Alam Tuku, MP, Kujendra Lal Tripura, MP, Gloria Jharna Sarker, MP, and Senior Home Secretary Md Mostofa Kamal spoke, among others.

Additional Inspector General of Police Dr Md Moynur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner of Bagerhat Md Mamunur Rashid and Police Super Pankaj Chandra Roy were also present.

Asaduzzaman Khan inaugurated the screening of a cinema produced on the Sundarbans.

The home minister said the robbers who surrendered in the Sundarbans will get fair judgment soon.

A victim fisherman and a robber also spoke on the occasion.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared the Sundarbans as robber-free on this day in 2018.
