Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives (LGRD) Minister Md Tazul Islam on Saturday said there is no alternative to concerted effort of all ministries, autonomous and non-governmental organisations to tackle the deadly coronavirus.
He made the remark while addressing an online video conference on the overall situation of coronavirus pandemic in the country. Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque presided over the session.
Tazul said the authorities have to work with all the countrymen in a coordinated manner to implement the guidelines provided by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to prevent the coronavirus outbreak.
Mentioning that the Ministry is on standby to extend any sort of cooperation in the prevention of coronavirus, he said strategies in fight against the virus should be taken considering the issue of lives and livelihoods of the people.
The ministry directed the authorities concerned to from committees and sub-committees with government and non-government representatives at ward level in the two Dhaka city corporations, the minister noted, adding that proper implementation of the directive will enable them to monitor various social activities closely.
Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Public Administration Md Farhad Hossain, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam, Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Kaikaus and Inspector General of Police Benazir Ahmed participated in the virtual conference.
