NISCHA demanding maximum 10 yrs jail for road accident

Nirapad Sarak Chai (NISCHA), a platform for safe road Chairman and film actor Illias Kanchan today called upon the people for a national unity and demanding maximum ten years jail those who are guilty in the road accident.

Kanchan made this demand while he was addressing a press conference on the occasion of the national road safety day and 23rd death anniversary of his wife Jahanara Kanchan at Sagar-Runi auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity here.

Replying to a query, he said "As per the road safety act, the government has to provision of maximum 10 years imprisonment those who accused for the road accident and it would be non-bail able."

The noted film actor also urged the people of all strata including driver, owners of the vehicle, passengers and the policy makers to be conscious for forging a safe road management system.

"We must have to follow the rules and unearth the reason behind the road accident instead of each other blame game," he said.

To mark the day, a rally will be held in front of Shilpakala Academy on October 22.

Joint General Secretary of NISCHA Sadeque Hossen Babul also spoke on the occasion.
