Next general election to be held peacefully: Deputy Speaker

MAGURA, Dec 25, 2016 (BSS) - Deputy Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad M Fazley Rabbi Mia today said the next general election would be held peacefully following instance of the Narayanganj City Corporation polls.

"The government held the NCC polls peacefully and the next national election will also be held in a free and fair manner," he told a memorial meeting here.

Awami League wants to constitute a skilled and impartial Election Commission (EC), the Deputy Speaker added.

District unit of AL arranged the meeting marking the 23rd death anniversary of Advocate Asaduzzaman, former president of district unit of AL.

With district unit of AL president Tangel Hossain in the chair, it was addressed, among others, by Quamrul Laila Jolly, MP, assistant personal secretary to the prime minister Saifuzzaman Shekhor, District Council administrator Advocate Syed Shariful Islam, Municipality mayor Khurshid Haider Tutul and District AL vice-president Abdul Fattah.
