New Bangladesh ambassador to Indonesia calls on President

Newly appointed ambassador of Bangladesh to Indonesia Major Gen Azmal Kabir made a courtesy call on President Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban this afternoon.

During the meeting, the President said there are excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Indonesia. There are also scopes to expand trade and investment relations between the two friendly countries, he said and asked the envoy to take necessary steps to exploit those scopes for mutual benefits of the two countries.

The President's press secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.

President Hamid said Bangladesh produces world standard pharmaceuticals, ceramic and other products and advised the ambassador to put continued effort to create market for the products.

Azmal Kabir sought the President's cooperation in discharging his assignment in Indonesia.

Later, Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division Lt Gen Mahfuzur Rahman made a courtesy call on the President at Bangabhaban.

The PSO invited the President to attend the programme of the Armed Forces Day on November 21.

He also apprised President Hamid of various development activities of the armed forces.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
