Nepal wants to take benefit from prosperity of neighbouring country: Minister Sharma

Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, has said Nepal has wanted to take benefit from the prosperity of neighbouring country.

During the meeting with Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, at the Ministry on Friday, Minister Sharma mentioned that Nepal would always welcome the support provided by the international community in favour of Nepal and Nepali people.

Stating that Nepal and China have close neighbourly relations, she shared, "The support to be provided by the international community including neigbhours will be appreciable as achieving prosperity from IT sector is in Nepal's priority."

The Communications Minister further said there is important support from China in the mass communication sector along with information technology.

She viewed that they had determined the priorities for developing its own satellite, making preparation for launching 5G service by expanding 4G internet service across the nation, establishing an IT university and constructing IT park in each province.

The international community including China, which has already achieved prosperity in this sector, could provide support to Nepal in this sector, she hoped.

Talking that many Chinese companies related to IT have been working in Nepal, Minister Sharma stressed that attention should be paid in quality.

On the occasion, the Chinese Ambassador said China was willing to collaborate in many sectors as China was aware about Nepal's priority in IT and communications sector.

Stating that people of the both countries could take benefit from economic prosperity of both countries, he mentioned that Nepal could take benefit from the progress made by China in telecommunication sector.

The Chinese Ambassador further said China has been leading the world in 'Data Application' sector, saying Nepal could move itself ahead in the development and good governance sector through the medium of technology.
