DHAKA, March 7, 2017 (BSS) - National Board of Revenue (NBR) starts pre-budget discussion with trade bodies and other stakeholders from tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of its move to prepare national budget for fiscal year 2017-18.

NBR will sit with leaders of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) at 10am tomorrow at its Segunbagicha office.

"We will hold pre-budget talks with representatives of trade bodies so that we can get suggestions for a people's friendly tax system," NBR chairman Md Nojibor Rahman told BSS.

NBR will continue the pre-budget discussion with stakeholders up to May 4 and for the first time, it has planned to exchange views with people of different professions in all divisional headquarters about the budget.

Nojibor Rahman said the preparation of budget for FY18 is important for the NBR as it is going to implement the new VAT law from July 1. "We want to get necessary suggestions from the stakeholders," he added.

He said NBR will review all proposals and suggestions of the stakeholders on flourishing the country's industrial-business sector and send to the finance ministry for taking into consideration for budget preparation.
