National Legal Aid Day observed across the country

DHAKA, The National Legal Aid Services Day2019 was observed throughout the country today with an aim to ensure to free access to justice of the people belong to weaker sections of the society.

National Legal Aid Day is observed every year since 2009 across the country in order to make people aware of the government providing legal assistance to the poor, insolvent, and destitute justiceseekers.

The theme of the this year's National Legal Aid Services Day2019 was Bangabandhur Sonar Banglai Sheikh Hasinar ObodanBina Mulley Legal Aide Aine Sebadan (Legal aid services free of cost is the contribution of Sheikh Hasina for Golden Bengal of Bangabandhu).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the national programs of the day at a function at a city hotel when she asked authorities concerned to take measures for quick disposal of the lawsuits involving rapes and arson attacks and deaths.

In Chattogram a rally was brought out from district court premises, participated by judges, lawyers, district administration officials, public representatives, and officials of different government and nongovernment organizations (NGOs).

District and Session Judge Ismail Hossain inaugurated the rally through the releasing pigeon and balloon. Latter, a discussion was held at Chief Judicial Magistrate conference room.

State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain took part in the programs of the National legal Ais Services Day in Meherpur. A rally was brought out from Shilpakala Academy to District Judge Court premises. Later a discussion was held with chairman of District Legal Aid Committee and Senior District and Session Judge SM Abdus Salam. Judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Rashidul Islam, Chief Judicial Magistrate Shirin Nahar also spoke on the occasion.

The National Legal Aid Services day was observed in Sherpur with colourful rally, discussion and other programs. District and Session Judge and chairman of District legal Aid Committee K M Shahid Ahmed inaugurated the programs of the day through releasing pigeon and balloons. Judges, officials and members of the bar took part in the discussion on the day.

In Banguna the National Legal Aid Services day was observed through rally, legal aid fair, blood donation program, discussion and cultural program. On the occasion a discussion was arranged at District Judge Court hall room with District and Session Judge Md. Asaduzzaman in the chair. Judges, officials, leaders of bar, journalists also spoke on the occasion.

The National Legal Aid Services Day was observed in Dinajpur with various programs. Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest Former minister AH Mahmud Ali, MP said the government of Sheikh Hasina has been striving to ensure access of weaker section of people to justice. Court is the last shelter of the people. So the present government has adopted a policy so that every people gets legal aid services.

District and Session Judge of Dinajpur Aziz Ahmed Bhuiyan presided over the function while government officials, judges leaders of bas association also spoke on the occasion.

The National Legal Aid Services Day has also been observed in Bogra, Brahamanbaria, Cumilla and other districts.
