DHAKA - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said digitization and automation system in power and energy sector will open up new horizon in customer services.
"Now people want to get services at their doorsteps and the distribution companies will have to reach electricity and energy services at people's doorsteps," an official press release quoted him as saying while visiting the office of Sweden-based ABB, a multinational supplier of power transmission equipment office in Stockholm on Thursday.
He said introduction of smart systems in the power sector was now a demand of time in the country and the government steps were underway to run the sector by using environment-friendly modern technologies.
ABB's senior vice president of Scandinavia region Roberts Larsson
highlighted the company's operations and ideas and expressed willingness
to work with Bangladesh in the underground substation and transmission
ABB operates in more than 100 countries in areas like power consulting,electrification, substation automation, protection and control, elementary substations, power grid upgrade, power connecting and turbo charging.
The state minister visited the ABB office as part of his three-day official visit there on invitation of the Swedish government.
Mayor of Narayanganj Dr Selina Hayat Ivy, PGCB Managing Director Masum Al-Beruni and DESCO Managing Director Brigadier General (retd) Shahid Sarwar,among others, accompanied the state minister.
