Nasim urges BNP to take lessons from NCC polls

DHAKA, Dec 25, 2016 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister and Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim yesterday urged the BNP to take lessons from Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) polls.

"NCC election proved that a fair and credible election is possible under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he told a Victory Day discussion at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here this evening.

Nasim said all elections under the incumbent government were held in a free, fair and credible manner.

Muktijoddha Foundation (MF), an organization of freedom fighters and their family members, arranged the discussion with principal Gazi Delwar Hossain in the chair.

Nasim urged BNP to sever ties with Jamaat-e-Islami as it committed crimes against the humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.

Referring to the NCC polls, he said, "Awami League has achieved another victory during the Victory Month. It's a triumph of Sheikh Hasina indeed."

The senior AL leader called upon all pro-Liberation forces and party leaders and workers to take preparation for the upcoming general election to be held in 2019.

Former additional inspector general of police Dr MA Rahim Khan, former student leader and freedom fighter Habibur Rahman Khan, MF general secretary Tofazzel Hossain, joint secretary Islam Babul, publicity secretary Md Sahidul Islam Rana and general secretary of Bangabandhu Shangskritik Jote Arun Sarker Rana, among others, spoke on the occasion.
