Mujibul to hand over cheques to families of Tampaco victims tomorrow

DHAKA, Feb 08, 2017 (BSS)-The government will give financial assistance to the family members of 72 workers of Tampaco Foils Limited who were killed and injured in a factory fire in Gazipur on September last year.

State minister for labour and employment Md Mujibul Haq will hand over Tk 62 lakh to the family members at a programme to be held at the office of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments in Tongi at 10am tomorrow, said a media release.

The massive fire left 32 workers dead and 40 injured.

Each family of the 32 killed workers will be given Tk two lakh from the fund of the labour and employment ministry's workers welfare foundation. Of the 40 injured workers, 30 families will get Tk 50,000 each while 10 will receive Tk 35, 000 each.

The Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments has already given an injured worker Tk 50,000. Nine other injured workers received Tk 15,000 each for treatment purposes.
