MP Liton’s killers would have to pay heavily: Quader

GAIBANDHA, JAN 28, 2017 (BSS)- Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said those, who killed Monjurul Islm Liton MP in a planned way, would have to pay heavily.

The minister made the comment while addressing a mourning meeting in the memory of Monzurul Islam Liton, MP, on the premises of Sundarganj DW Degree College in the district as the chief guest.

Sundarganj Upazila Nagorik Committee organized the meeting while president of the committee and general secretary of upazila AL Golam Mostafa Ahmed presided over it.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered that the criminals, who killed Liton, have to be arrested for trial, the minister said.

No efforts would be successful to conceal the actual killers of Liton MP, said Obaidul Quader, also the General Secretary of Awami League.

This killing, he said, is being taken very seriously and this murder has tarnished the image of the government.

The nomination for the by-election in the constituency, he said, would be finalized by Sheikh Hasina and the people of Sundarganj.

The meeting was also addressed, among others, by joint general secretaries of AL Mahbub Alam Hanif, MP, and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, deputy speaker Advocate Fazley Rabbi Miah, state minister for Textile and Jute Ministry Mirza Azam, MP, Whip Mahabub Ara Begum Gini, MP, organizing secretary (OS) of AL Rangpur division BM Mojammel Haque, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, MP, HM Ashiqur Rahman MP, Tipu Munshi, MP, Abul Kalam Azad, MP, president of district AL Advocate Syed Shams-ul-Alam Hiru, president of Bangladesh Chhattra League Saifur Rahman Sohag and Liton's MP wife Syeda Khurshid Jahan Smriti.

A large number of people from all walks of life participated in the meeting.

Later, they placed wreaths on the grave of the Liton MP and offered munajat seeking eternal peace of his departed soul.
