Mozammel urges private sector to take housing to people’s doorsteps

DHAKA, Jan 26, 2017 (BSS) - Minister for Liberation War Affairs AKM Mozammel Huq today urged the private entrepreneurs to play a pioneering role, along with the government, to take housing facilities to the doorsteps of the people.

Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of Moitri Echo Village Limited at Kakrail Diploma Institution auditorium in the city, the minister said the government has taken different programmes to ensure housing facilities for the people for attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

"SDGs would be attained by 2030, if the private companies, side by side with the government, develop housing facilities for the common people maintaining balance of environment," he added.

Moitri Echo Village Chairman AKM Azizur Rahman presided over the function while freedom fighter Ismat Kadir Gama and freedom fighter Gias Uddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.

The minister said the private entrepreneurs would have to come forward along with the government to make housing available to common people at a low cost.

Organizers said Moitri Echo Village is being developed 18 kilometers off the city on Dhaka-Mawa highway.
