RANGPUR The tri-annual council of Lalmonirhat district unit of Awami League (AL) today elected freedom fighter Motahar Hossain, MP, and Advocate Md Motiar Rahman as its president and general secretary respectively.
AL Joint General Secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanak announced the names of newly elected president and general secretary as per opinion of participating councilors from across the district at Lalmonirhat Zila Parishad auditorium.
Earlier, delegates and councilors started gathering at the council of Lalmonirhat district unit of AL with huge enthusiasm amid festivities and fanfare since the morning.
AL Presidium Member Ramesh Chandra Sen, MP, with other central leaders inaugurated the tri-annual council by hoisting of the national and party flags and releasing pigeons and balloons at noon at Zila Parishad auditorium ground.
With Lalmonirhat district AL President Motahar Hossain, MP, in the chair, it was addressed by Ramesh Chandra Sen, MP, Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, MP, AL Organizing Secretary for Rangpur division BM Mozammel Haque and Naimuzzaman Mukta.
