Mosharraf inaugurates eye camp at Faridpur

LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain said here today that all the big achievements since liberation to present day country's tremendous development were earned by Awami League.

He also said that it is Awami League which can fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the people of the country as the country under the dynamic and courageous leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached at the door step of a middle income country before the schedule time.

Mosharraf was inaugurating a two-day eye camp organized by Faridpur Sadar upazilla parishad in collaboration with National Institute of Eye(NIE), Dhaka here at Faridpur Medical College hospital(FMCH) premises this morning. In the two day camp held at FMCH 654 cataract patients will be operated upon through Inter Ocular Lens (IOL) procedure free of cost including medicine and spectacles.

He mentioned that in 2009 the per capita income of our people was 665 dollars while it has now become 1644 dollars and it was only possible due to the leadership and wisdom of the Prime Minister.

He reminded the people that if they want the continuation of the present pace of development of the country they must vote for Awami League in the next national election.

The inaugural function was chaired by Sadar upazilla chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor under whose initiatives this camp was held. Kh. Babor in his speech pointed out that 1772 cataract patients in Sadar upazilla who will be done IOL free of cost phase wise.

The director of NIE Professor Dr. Golam Mostofa said that they have decided to set up a permanent eye-camp here at Faridpur General Hospital to make the district cataract free. Necessary equipments are under process of arrange including the costly microscope which is important for IOL, he added.

Mosharraf said eye is a very vital organ of human being so give back the eye sight of a blind man is a great humanitarian job. He extended his thanks to upazilla parishad for this job.

A team of 50 doctors of NIE are working here in the camp.

The meeting was also addressed among others by DC Umme Salma Tanzia, Police super Subhash Chandra Saha and Superintendent of FMCH Dr. Abul Kalam Azad.
