DHAKA, Foreign minister Dr A K Abdul Momen today assured different country’s envoys here that the government will extend all kinds of support to foreign nationals residing in Bangladesh in this prevailing situation of deadly COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the foreign ministry will keep contact with all foreign missions in Bangladesh through its hotline during the government declared 10-day holidays to be started from tomorrow to contain the outbreak of coronavirus.
The foreign minister made the assurance while envoys of India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar and South Korea called on him separately at the foreign ministry here.
During the meetings, the envoys lauded the Bangladesh government’s various measures taken for preventing outbreak of COVID-19 and put emphasis on regional cooperation in combating against the killer bugs.
During the meeting with Indian envoy, High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das handed over 30,000 surgical masks and 15,000 head-cover to the foreign minister to help Bangladesh government’s efforts in combating coronavirus pandemic.
