DHAKA, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu, MP, said today that the media is the sentinel of democracy.
"It has been illuminating society and state, relentlessly," he said, adding.
He was speaking at the 13th founding anniversary of the daily "Amader Shomoy". Managing director of Amader Shomoy, also managing director of Unique Group, Noor Ali and the newspaper's acting editor, Golam Sarwar were present on the occasion.
The information minister said that democracy and press are the two sides of the same coin.
Describing the press as the mirror of contemporary times, he said "Society could afford mistakes by politicians but if the press faltered the price would be extremely high."
The minister expressed the hope that the newspaper would remain loyal to the soil and its people while upholding the cause of development, progress and the Liberation War.
