Maya expresses sympathy to missing fishermen families

COX'S BAZAR, June 6, 2017 (BSS) - Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya yesterday expressed his deep sympathy to the families of the missing fishermen in the sea.

The minister expressed his sympathy to the affected families while distributing relief among them at Charpara and Kutubdum union parishad fields under Maheshkhali upazila.

Maya also advised the others fishermen to go to the sea for fishing after knowing the actual weather condition.

Later, he distributed rice among 1,400 families at Charpara field and distributed rice, cash money and corrugated sheets among 640 families at Kutubdum union parishad field.

The minister also distributed one mound of rice among each of the 25 missing fishermen families.

The fishermen went missing in the sea last Thursday after Cyclone Mora lashed the coastal area. Bangladesh Navy and Coast Guard, in separate drives, rescued some fishermen from Cox's Bazar and near Kutubdia in the Bay of Bengal but some fishermen have been went missing.

Local lawmaker Atiqullah Rafiq, Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Shah Kamal and president of Cox's Bazar Awami League Sirajul Mustafa were present during the relief distribution.
