Man sentenced to death for killing son-in-law in Thakurgaon

A Thakurgaon court on Thursday convicted a man, his wife, daughter and son of killing their relative in the sadar upazila in 2011.

 

Additional District and Sessions Judge BM Tariqul Kabir sentenced Nurul Haque, 69, to death.

 

His wife Mazeda Begum, 54, their daughter and the victim’s wife Nargis Begum, 31, and her brother Mazedul Haque, 33, were given life imprisonment.

 

Mazedul is on the run.

 

The court fined them Tk 10,000 each and they will have to serve six months in jail if they fail to pay the fine.

 

According to case statement, a murder case was filed against the victim Pashirul Islam, 28, and his family members over death of Nurul’s elder daughter at Uttar Faridpur village in Ruhia thana of sadar upazila.

 

They wre infuriated when Pashirul got out on bail after six months.

 

Nargis called her husband Pashirul to her father’s house on August 12, 2011. They tied him up and slaughtered him.

 

Pashirul’s father filed a murder case against them.

 

Meanwhile, the court acquitted Shapla Begum, 24, as charges brought against her could not be proven.
