Man killed as concrete block falls off metro rail route

A man was killed as a concrete block from the under-construction metro rail track fell on him in the capital’s Mirpur on Monday morning, police said.

Sohel Talukder, a goldsmith by profession, was 48 years old. He hailed from Adamdighi upazila of Bogura.

Quoting eyewitnesses, police said the concrete block fell flush on Sohel’s head in front of the Islami Bank hospital in the morning, leaving him dead on the spot. Sohel was on his way to work at Mirpur-10.

Parvez Islam, officer-in-charge of Pallabi police station, said the body was sent to Suhrawardy Hospital morgue for autopsy.
