(ASD) population through exploring their full potential has become imperative
to attain the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030 leaving none
The observations came at a post-rally discussion arranged today at Police
Lines School and College auditorium here in observance of the 12th World
Autism Awareness Day-2019 with the theme of 'Assistive Technologies. Active

association with different nongovernmental organisations (NGOs) chalked out
programmes to observe the day.
Deputy Commissioner Enamul Habib attended the discussion as the chief
guest with Divisional Director of the DSS Abu Saleh Md Musa Jongi in the
Acting President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, its
Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, Additional Police Super Maruf
Hossain, Deputy Director of DSS Abdul Matin and Vice-president of District
Samaj Kallyan Parisahd China Chowdhury addressed as special guests.
Abdul Matin discussed present situation on autism in the country and
various pragmatic steps taken by the present government to ensure development
and welfare of autistic children and ASD population to turn them into able
The speakers said access to technology is crucial for improving lives of
the people living with any form of disability like autism, ensuring their
basic human rights and eliminating obstructions they face in living as an
integral part of the mainstream society.
China Chowdhury said, Assistive technologies can help persons with
disabilities to participate in various sectors of social life and exercise
their rights as their participation is a must for attaining the United
Nation's 2030 Agenda for SDGs.
Mamtaz Uddin stressed on promoting education, equity and inclusion of the
autistic population with the help of modern technologies like internet and
digital communities to enable them living a meaningful life with complete
social and political participation.
The chief guest said the autistic and neuro-developmentally disabled
populations are integral parts of the society.
The present government is working to ensure constitutional rights of ASD
population like others and is implementing various programmes to provide them
with all privileges they deserve on way to attain the SDGs, he added.
