DHAKA, May 25, 2017 (BSS) - A match-winning knocks came from the bat of Mahmudullha and Mushfiqur Rahim enabled Bangladesh to record a comfortable five wickets victory over New Zealand in the final match of Tri-Nation series held Wednesday in Dublin.
Chasing a winning target of 271 runs set by New Zealand, Bangladesh comfortable reached home in 48.2 overs.
Mahmudullah and Mushfiq steered Bangladesh towards the victory contributing an unbeaten 72-run for the sixth wicket to steer Bangladesh at home with five wickets in hand.
Mahmudullah smashed 46 runs off 36 balls laced with six boundaries and one over boundary while Mushfiqur Rahim added run-a-ball 45 runs that contained three boundaries and one six.
Earlier, southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal and one down Sabbir Rahman laid the foundation of Bangladesh's remarkable victory as they duo contributed set 136-run partnership for the second wicket stand, after Bangladesh lost their opener Soumya Sarkar for duck in the third ball of the first over.
Tamim and Sabbir both backed to the pavilion with an identical score of 65 runs.
Earlier, 133-run second wicket stand by skipper Latham and Broom enabled New Zealand to post a challenging total of 270 for 8 from their allotted 50 overs, after they were forced to field first.
Opener Latham composed 84 runs off 92 balls laced with 11 boundaries while Broom chipped away 63 runs that contained seven boundaries, after New Zealand lost their Ronchi early in the innings.
Shakib Al Hasan, Nasir Hossain and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza all shared two wickets each conceding 41, 47 and 52 runs respectively.
New Zealand beat Bangladesh by 4-wicket in the earlier encounter in the series.
