DHAKA, Feb 14, 2017 (BSS) -Bangladesh Lighterage Workers' Union today lifted its strike that started on Saturday in demand for implementation of the newly announced wage structure.
The operations of sixteen jetties at the Karnaphuli river were hampered as a group of lighter vessel workers went on the strike.
The strike was withdrawn at 2 pm today following a meeting at the directorate of Labour in the city, said an official release.
Presided over by Director of Labour Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, the meeting was attended by leaders of vessel workers union and vessel owners association.
The meeting decided that all measures would be done to implement the newly announced wage structure within the current month of February.
The announced wage structure would be implemented along with the implementation of the memorandum of understanding to increase fare of oil tankers.
