DHAKA, Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives M Tajul Islam today said the government has allocated Taka 53 crores for city corporations and municipalities to prevent dengue.
To prevent dengue and eliminate Aedes mosquitoes, we have allocated Tk 7.5 crores each for two city corporations in the capital, eight crores for city corporations outside Dhaka and 30 crore for other municipalities, he said.
He was speaking at a viewexchange meeting with the journalists of Climate Change Journalist Forum (BCJF) at the ministry conference room here.
While laying emphasis on working together to combat dengue, the minister said his ministry has taken steps to recruit 1,600 workers for Dhaka North City Corporation and adequate manpower for Dhaka South City Corporation for dengue prevention.
The programme was chaired by BCJF president Kawsar Rahman.
