DHAKA, Dec 31, 2016 (BSS) - Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif today urged the people to be united under the leadership of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina to attain the expected goal of development.
"The Bengali nation, particularly youths, would have to be united under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina like in '69 and '71.
This unity will turn Bangladesh into a middle income country by 2021 and a developed country by 2041," he said speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting at Shishu Academy in the city.
Bangabandhu Smriti Sangsad and Smriti Pathagar organized the discussion meeting marking the Victory Day.
Bangabandhu Smriti Sangsad and Smriti Pathagar Adviser and Rural Development and Cooperatives Secretary Proshanto Kumar Roy presided over the meeting while State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Mashiur Rahman Ranga was present as special guest.
Bangabandhu Smriti Sangsad and Smriti Pathagar President Dr. SM Badsha Miah, General Secretary Dr. Mostafa Zaman, Vice-President Nurul Amin, Dr. Panchanan Mahali, M Rabiul Islam and M. Bacchu also spoke at the meeting.
Shamsur Rahman Sharif said building a 'Sonar Bangla' was one of the philosophies of Bangabandhu.
To implement the philosophy of Bangabandhu, his unfinished tasks would have to be completed on the basis of the spirit of the Liberation War, he said and called for building country free of hunger and poverty.
The minister condemned the roles of Golam Azam, Khandaker Mostaq and Ziaur Rahman for hindering development and said Bangladesh could become a developed country much earlier, if Bangabandhu was not killed by the betrayers.
Mashiur Rahman Ranga said Jatiya Party is extending cooperation to the government's development activities to implement Bangabandhu's philosophy.
Referring to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's 'One house, one farm' project, the state minister said Bangladesh would soon become a role model of development.
Proshanto Kumar said Bangabandhu Smriti Sangsad and Smriti Pathagar will take initiatives to set up Liberation War based libraries and install Bangabandhu's mural in all districts.
