The victim was identified as Md. Rusel, 30, a transport worker and son of Md Abul Hossain from Manohardi upazila in Narsingdi district.
The incident took place when Rasel signalled the truck to reverse at Commissioner Road area of Kadamtoli around 11:45pm on Friday night. Rasel used to work as a helper of the sand-laden truck, said co-worker Shamsul.
Rasel received severe injuries when the truck backed into him.
Critically injured Rasel was taken to Dhaka Medical College hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries at around 1am – technically Saturday.
Confirming the incident, Inspector Bachchchu Miaa, in-charge of the DMCH police camp, said the body was sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy..
