The government has appointed Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Khandker Golam Faruq as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
A gazette notification was issued in this regard by the Home Ministry’s Public Security Division on Sunday.

The appointment of Golam Faruq will be effective from October 29 as incumbent DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam will go on retirement on the same day.
The tenure of DMP Commissioner Shafiqul Islam was extended for another year in 2021. On September 13, 2019 he took the responsibility as 34th Commissioner of DMP.
