MYMENSINGH, State Minister for cultural affairs KM Khalid today urged the public representatives and all concerned officials to make a right list of the poor in their constituency for fair distribution of various government allowances given under social safety net programs.
The government has introduced the social allowances to reach the country's benefit of economic progress to grassroots people. So, names of the poor in need should be listed for those allowances, he said.
The state minister said this when distributing stipend among physically challenged students at Muktagacha Upazila Parishad auditorium here today. Khalid said, the present government has been working relentlessly for the welfare of the poor and backward peoples of the society. People are enjoying the benefits of the socioeconomic development programs of the government, he said.
With UNO Shubarna Sarker in the chair the function addressed, among others, by Upazila chairman Abdul Hye Akhand and vice chairman Arab Ali.
The state minister also urged everybody to remain careful about the conspiracy of a vested section to spread rumours on different issues.
The state minister later inaugurated the ICT building of Gabtoli Degree College constructed by the education engineering department at a cost of Taka 2.35 crore. He also inaugurated a mosque at the college campus.
Chairman of the college advocate Anisur Rahman, chairman of Mymensingh Education Board Gazi Hassan Kamal and principal of the college Mahmuda Khatun were present.
