Khaleda’s testimony in graft case on May 15

DHAKA- A Dhaka court today set May 15 to record unfinished testimony of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.

"Dhaka senior special judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order accepting a time plea from the defence," a court official said.

The court came up with the order in presence of Khaleda Zia.

Barrister Jamir Uddin Sarker and Abdur Rejjak Khan submitted the time plea for the accused, saying, "A plea of the accused has been pending before the High Court, expressing no confidence on this court. So this court cannot hold hearing until the disposal of that plea."

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on July 3, 2008, filed the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case with Ramna police station, accusing Khaleda, her son Tarique Rahman and four others for embezzlement of over Tk 21 million brought from abroad meant for the orphans.
